How to take care of your fine jewelry

When you purchase a fine jewelry, you expect it to last a lifetime and look the same as it used to when you bought it. So, we decided to share tips and tricks on how to take care of fine jewelry.

Do not clean your jewelry by yourself, give it to professionals at least once a year so they take a proper care of it.  Also, we suggest giving engagement rings and wedding bands for a cleaning twice a year, as you wear them daily.

If you decided to clean your fine jewelry by yourself do it with warm soapy water and a soft-bristled toothbrush.

The way you store fine jewelry is very important. Never store all the jewelry in one place: as hard stones like diamonds can damage other pieces of jewelry. Try to store your fine jewelry in separate cases or in the jewelry box. Remember that such gemstones as pearls and opals need to breath, so never store them in anything airtight. Do not keep your jewelry near windows and heat ventilators, or in direct sunlight. Also, a great tip- put a piece of chalk or a bag of silica inside your jewelry box it will absorb moisture.

Avoid wearing your jewelry while washing hands, showering, applying lotion, and exercising. If you plan on spending a day poolside or at the beach, do not put your fine jewelry on, chlorine and salt water can damage precious metals.

Try not to sleep in your jewelry, it can potentially harm the jewelry or you.

A simple but helpful guideline to remember -put your jewelry on last and take it off first.

At Luvente we offer a Lifetime Warranty that assures that the jewelry you purchase will always be protected for the life of the piece. Make sure to register your jewelry on our website.
